Raising Awareness

Postby rewarren » Fri Dec 11, 2009 12:56 pm

Firstly, it's great to see a village discussion forum back online again.

However, the key to a successful forum is widespread participation, but I haven't seen much publicity about it. (Perhaps I've just missed it of course!).

I was aware of the main http://www.bassingbourn.org website, but only came across the forum via a link on there. Is there some way we can increase awareness of this resource - would an announcement in the Village Voice be worthwhile perhaps?

Apologies if this is already in hand but I'm just not aware of it.

Richard.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your message, I have written a piece to go into the December Village Voice so hopefully this will help get things off the ground.

I am also planning to put up a some notices, was planning to put one down in Kneesworth next to Yuva, one in the causeway board and one outside the book cafe, are there any more about?

Thanks

Daniel

Good ideas. I think there's a noticeboard outside the Pear Tree, although I can't recall for certain (and it might be private come to think of it).

Daniel

There are 6 Parish Council noticeboards which the public are allowed to use (plus a 7th redundant noticeboard which is no longer used but has not been removed). The active noticeboards are at the entrance to Cambridge Crescent, at the eastern end of The Causeway, outside The Limes Community Facility (i.e. the Book Café), in South End opposite The Tanyard, on the wall of the Pear Tree and in North End at the junction with Guise Lane. All are kept open with the exception of the one at The Limes which has to be kept locked to prevent wind damage - I am one of ther keyholders. The 7th, redundant noticeboard is in the Old North Road roughly opposite Karen Forte.

Regards

Mike

Great stuff mike thanks I will try and get this sorted out over Christmas period.

There does not seem to have been a mention in the December Village Voice, not sure why but will email to confirm.

Thanks
